For 200 years, Børsen (The Stock Exchange) has mirrored the Norwegian economy and society. It was central to the timber trade in old Christiania, and an arena for wild speculation during the First World War. When the state regulated the economy after the Second World War, the market-oriented Stock Exchange hardly played a role. The arrival of oil in the 1970s also gave new momentum to the stock market. Today, Oslo Børs is a digital and global meeting place – and marketplace. This book tells how the Norwegian Stock Exchange has found its form in the span between local, national and international forces. The book is half cloth-bound with the title embossed in gold foil. The color palette used throughout the design, on dividing pages and typography, is sampled from the buildings interior. The front cover and opening/ending pages are designed as a photographic journey through the Børsen building premises and was commissioned for the purpose of the book. Photography by Ivan Brodey.
